CustomTech brings advanced IGEL Thin Client Technology to Australia
Custom Technology is delivering advanced Linux and Windows based
Thin Clients from Europe's leading Thin Client manufacturer IGEL
Technology.
SYDNEY, Australia -- 14 December 2005 -- Custom Technology today announced a partnership with German based IGEL Technology GmbH to bring IGEL's advanced Linux and Windows based Thin Clients to the Australian market.
"Thin Clients allow businesses to reduce total cost of ownership and improve security", said Gordon Hubbard, Managing Director, Custom Technology. "Business managers are increasingly frustrated with rising costs due to the intrinsic vulnerability of the commonly deployed PC architecture to viruses, trojans, spyware and other security problems. Server based computing with thin clients equipped with a robust read-only operating system is a natural solution to these problems."
IGEL Thin Clients provide access to applications served by any
combination of Windows Terminal Server, Citrix, Solaris, AIX or Linux
application servers by supporting a broad range of protocols including
ICA (Citrix), RDP (Microsoft), NX (NoMachine), X (UNIX/Linux) and
"green screen" terminal emulation.
Integrated SmartCard readers can be used to provide high levels of
security and personalisation. IGEL Thin Clients can also be centrally
managed via the IGEL Remote Management Suite. The Remote Management
Suite runs on Windows 2000, XP, 2003 and most common Linux
distributions. Features include remote manipulation of client settings
and configuration, remote shutdown, wakeup, reboot, client grouping and
scheduling, and shadowing through the integrated VNC client.
IGEL also eases the
transition to reliable Thin Client based workstations with the
innovative
"TC Card" migration tools. Within just a few minutes an old PC
workstation can be turned into
an efficient and cost-effective Linux based IGEL Clever Client that can
be remotely
managed along with fully fledged IGEL Thin Clients.
In comparison with the common "fat client" architecture, server based computing with thin clients is:
* More secure
* More reliable
* Lower TCO
* More manageable
* Reduced desktop obsolescence
* Environmentally friendly - silent operation and
lower power consumption.
